The cash cover of any safe is the standard to which that safe is constructed, the higher the cash cover, the greater the protection within the safe.
Cash cover varies greatly from around £700 to over £150,000. These figures are not just randomly chosen by the manufacturers, safes are tested and given a rating by independent testing bodies. The L.P.C.B (Loss Prevention Certification Board) being one, and A.B.I.S (Association of Burglary Intervention Surveyors) being another.
The cash cover is a recommendation to insurance companies of the sum of money that can be stored overnight. Generally insurance companies will multiply the cash cover by 10 for valuables, eg. £3000 cash cover would be £30,000 in valuables.
